The happy moment in a bumpy day!
Today we celebrated Simone's 21st. She is like a niece to me, her mum and I having been friends since we were small. This brave and cheerful girl has faced serious health challenges all her life, so today's celebration with her family was very special. The cake was super pretty, with a spectacular sparkler candle resembling a blow torch!
But we were about two hours late to this party because I managed to destroy a back tyre while exiting the hotel car park. It blew with such a bang I really thought I'd ripped the wing off or brought a gantry down or something! We had to call out the RAC.
Then we heard about the incident in Streatham, which is where my elder daughter lives. Thankfully she promptly got in touch to reassure us they are fine, but seeing the all too familiar high street on the news feels deeply unsettling.
Finally we got home to a house that had been under assault by either ours or a rogue cat, who had left its mark (to say the least) in several places. Any relaxation I managed to achieve has been wiped away in at the clean up operation.
Oh... and it's nearly Monday again!!!
