Here we go again

Well yesterday was a flash in the pan! Back to the eternal drizzle and damp today. I did go out earlier to pick Mrs M up from the station, but that coincided with a downpour, so I very nearly had to resort to a cat Blip!

This rather crummy picture is of one of these odd succulents that you sometimes find in the supermarket under the name of 'Green plant'. A very large family, that one! You're left to try to work out what this 'Green Plant' is - in this case I'm pretty sure that it's Rhipsalis cassutha,  otherwise known as Rhipsalis baccifera, as I already had some rooted cuttings which flowered last year. This epiphytic plant is said to be the only cactus which grows outside of the New World, as it's been found in Sri Lanka, but I'm suspicious that it's not a native there. 

It has a very pendulous habit, growing naturally as it does in trees, so it's not the easiest plant to accommodate indoors. Mine is stuck in the top of a glass vase to stop the stems trailing on the table.
