The museum of innocence

My favourite book by Orhan Pamuk written alongside the construction of the actual museum by the author. I had wanted to visit for so long and being in Istanbul means I have to go. The meeting finished at lunch time, and our host took us to go eat baklava at one of the most famous places in Istanbul, Karakoy, They were delicious but my sugar intake must have gone through the roof. As soon as it was polite to leave we headed off to the museum, walking through the streets near Galata tower, it did not disappoint.

The Museum of Innocence, semi quoting from wiki, is a museum in a 19th-century house in Istanbul (Çukurcuma) created by novelist Orhan Pamuk as a companion to his novel The Museum of Innocence. The museum and the novel were created in tandem, centred on the stories of two Istanbul families. On 17 May 2014, the museum was announced as the winner of the 2014 European Museum of the Year Award.

The picture shows the hundreds of cigarette butts Kemal, the main protagonist smoked on his visits to see the married Fusun, the object of his unrequited love.
