Luminous commemorative stones by Daan Roosegaarde

Stones are important in both the Jewish memorial tradition and in the Roma and Sinti culture. This tradition has been used as inspiration. In conversation with Holocaust survivors and their families, the artist came up with the design of LIFE LIGHT. With 104,000 luminous commemorative stones (equal to the number of victims from the Netherlands), the artwork is a symbol of the impact of the Holocaust.

After a national unveiling, part of the stone is exhibited in 170 municipalities. Also in my hometown. The memorial stones light up in the dark. The stones "breathe" in light and symbolize that the memory of the victims must remain alive.
