Duck Pond (back blip for yesterday)
Yesterday I was out birdwatching on Wanstead Flats. In the snow, there are fewer birds around, but those that are out are usually easier to see, and generally more focused on food and less on avoiding humans with binoculars.
I'm reconciled to the fact that my phone camera's never going to be up to photographing many of the birds I see, but I managed to snap some Mallards and a Coot in an oasis of open water in an otherwise iced-over pond.
Shortly afterwards, I watched (but couldn't get a photo of) a pretty female Goldcrest in a Broom bush.
