Swimming

This beach is so long (10-15km) it has several different names.
This bit is New Brighton (to distinguish it from Brighton in England not anywhere else in New Zealand).
The flags between which you should swim are about 20meters apart.
Unsurprisingly about 100m down the coast towards Christchurch more people were swimming and surfing without any lifeguard protection.
