But, then again . . . . .

George VIII.

This is George VIII - Marquis of Tweeddale - Lord Lieutenant of Peeblesshire. He lives in Haddington and has been in a minor snowball skirmish. Please, it wasn't me - a big boy did it and ran away. George has also the need of a handkerchief and his beard will need some sanitary attention.

So what were the TDs doing in Haddington? Mrs TD needed a scrap of material to complete a patchwork and the only shop for buying scraps of material appears to be in Haddington today although sometimes it is in Linlithgow and I have known it to be in East Calder. I have even had to take herself to Didcot Wallingford in extreme circumstances - but that's another story.

Having acquired the scrap, we then went on to visit a friend in Tranent; she is an atheist with revolutionary tendencies but has a heart of gold. She's the sort of lady who doesn't do moderation, we always have interesting discussions with her.
