The Eve of Leaving

Then:

“The Conservative Prime Minister, Edward Heath, took the UK into the EEC in January 1973 after President de Gaulle of France had blocked UK membership twice in the 1960s. This brought EEC membership to nine.” (www.parliament.uk)

And now:

“The UK leaves the EU on the 31 January 2020. After 31 January 2020, there will be a transition period until the end of 2020, while the UK and EU negotiate additional arrangements. The current rules on trade, travel, and business for the UK and EU will continue to apply during the transition period.”  (www.dover.gov.uk)

This whole business has split the country and indeed, friends and families who hold differing opinions.  Watching violence erupt on news bulletins has been so sad, and unnecessary.  We are supposed to be civilised, aren’t we…?

So, this is how I feel about the UK leaving the EU…using my Dad’s collection of 1973 50p commemorative coins.  Now, I don’t intend to start an online argument with this post, but I do reckon I am entitled to air my opinion on my journal.  Many won’t agree but many others will agree.  Thank you.

Thought for the day:

“Oh, I offended you with my opinion?  You should hear the ones I keep to myself.”  (Patsy Cline)
