Between fen and mountains

Bent hairspring

The plumber came first thing to service the boiler and then the man from British Gas to try and sort out our smart meter. Then I seem to have been on the phone most of the day. A journalist from the local radio station in France phoned wanting to interview me about the problems I and others who live or spend time in France will face after Friday. I then phoned the Mairie to ask for an attestation to prove my residence in the village and my contribution to village life. This may help me when I eventually have to attend for interview at the prefecture to claim French residence.  I also had to phone the pensions department to notify them that we were changing our domicile.  Mrs TT will lose the winter fuel allowance which is a bit odd given that she will still be in receipt of an English pension.  Perhaps they don't realise that parts of Europe are very cold in winter! I have also been working on this carriage clock trying to get the right curve on the hairspring so the coils do not touch.  The clock runs very fast if this happens.  I have got it to within about two minutes a day but the spring was badly mangled so this is probably the best I can do.
