Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Labs Unlocked in French Polynesia

Another informative evening at the UW college of the environment ( the biggest in the country with 1600+ students) this time in ocean sciences.   We learned about the research being done at Tetiaroa, a small pristine atoll north of Tahiti, with a world class eco resort  on the island originally bought by Marlon Brando as well as a research station and society.  A UWFamily funds some varied research  projects from the oceanography dept there.
One talk was about studying the effect of Co2 on coral reefs (they are almost able to replicate conditions as predicted for the end of this century in this remote place) a second studying sharks that make their home there, and a third studying the seabirds to try to learn where they go and what effect does climate change in the ocean have on their lives.    All interesting.   Love having the UW so close and seeing these excited young professors and students.
The blip is coral and algae grown in the controlled lab. ( yes, played with...)
