Bearded Emperor Tamarin

In an effort to find my missing photo mojo, when the sun appeared this morning, I headed out to the National Zoo.

I made a brief visit to the Amazon Rainforest building and came across several of these cute little fellows who were misbehaving.  They are free to roam around the building but always remain very high up in the trees.  Today they had come down and were hanging out right on the walkway, with several zoo attendants keeping guard and escorting visitors past them. It gave me the opportunity to get quite a few close-up shots. Allegedly they got their name because of their resemblance to Emperor Wilhelm II.

All of the Big Cats were outside enjoying the sunshine so I had some additional photo ops there.  See my extra for the Sumatran Tiger stare down.

I am a member of the zoo, which provides me with free parking, which is a good thing because it now costs $25 to park.  Admission to the zoo, like all of the other  Smithsonian Museums, is free.
