An Unkindness of Ravens

Sorry - I changed the photo! I found the dragonfly a bit lacking in oomph; not sure why! The dragonfly (and a bonus bee fly) can be found HERE now. (Blipfolio is full - needs a cleanout - and is very slow to load anyway...)

(Austroaeschna unicornis) At least I'm pretty sure that's what it is, from the markings on its thorax. This is a really big dragonfly - maybe about 80mm length. And I had to use a step ladder to take this photo!

I had spotted a big robber fly with something in its grip way up in a bush. So I went inside to get the zoom lens (and the images were not macro or blipable quality at all - but it was a bee for breakfast!). Then higher up I spotted this dragonfly, sitting motionless. So I then had to change back to the macro lens and get the step ladder from the house and stand rather precariously on the top of the ladder - which wobbled - to take this. Hence the 'looking up at it' angle, which isn't particularly the best angle for a dragonfly, but I couldn't get any higher. Eventually my rustling about in the bush sent it flying off.

(There is supposed to be a LARGE link here! But it won't stay! Press L instead)

A very still morning, with a lot of smoke about, until the afternoon breeze blew it away. Managed to get a bit of gardening done before it got too hot.
