Spoilt for choice

Staying on a campsite in the wilds of Shropshire. With donkeys!

Today was a real day of exploring. We went to Bridgnorth and to Claverley. Fascinating to have such a change of scenery, Wenlock Edge and all the meandering narrow lanes.

Bridgnorth was such an interesting market town, with proper shops!  Wonderful greengrocers, butchers, bakers - we had a great time, browsing and buying. So much more enjoyable than trawling round a supermarket!

We went on the country's steepest funicular railway too, from the top of the town to the lower part, and back again. Great fun!

After lunch, to Claverley, where we saw this amazing mural on the inside of the church. It's referred to as the English Bayeux Tapestry. A dramatic battle scene with knights and horses, but tricky to photograph.

All in all a great day, we met some lovely friendly people, saw lots of interesting sights and thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Bought the biggest date and walnut scone you have ever seen too! And yes, I resisted the temptation to buy a zebra, although sadly it wasn't for sale!
