Cape of Good Hope

We had a wonderful day exploring the cape which we last visited 12 years ago. Things have changed in that there are so many more tourists now.

We stopped at Maidens Bay and saw the fence which used to separate the area so that whites only had access to the beautiful beach - everyone else had to swim off the rocks.

We went via Chapmans Peak road to Houts Bay and on to the walk up to the lighthouse at Cape Point. People were much more informed now to carry no food and we saw only one baboon. This picture is from the walk looking down to the Cape of Good Hope. Last time we could walk there from the lighthouse but the track is too dangerous now so we went another way by bus to the the mandatory Cape of Good Hope sign. We saw some ostriches.

We had a lovely lunch in Simonstown before going to Boulder Bay to see the African penguins. We were pleased there were many more than in our previous visit.

I don’t get WiFi in my room and we’ve been told there will be none from Wednesday
