At home: My Tree....
I love this tree. Since I have lived here its been stood in that hedgerow watching the world go by. I wonder what its seen in its life time. I wonder many cold winters its been through. How much snow has laid at its roots before. How much mud has slipped around it. Or whether the sun scorched the soil dry to dust in the summer.
I think about the old farmer, or farm boy that helped plant it, all those years ago. I wonder what was on their mind that day. Whether they sat on the ground with their cheese and pickle sandwich wrapped in brown paper when they had finished heeling the sapling in. They must have thought about the life the tree would see in the future and who it would meet. Trees meet and greet and say goodbye to people. I like this about trees.
