Winter visit
to Harlow Carr.
Chris suggested going today as he wasn’t out on his usual Friday jaunt so after coffee at Tittle Tattle we headed over Bingley Moor where we could immediately see it was brighter ahead. Through Otley and we drove into sunshine and blue skies,
Lovely, almost warm afternoon. Some prople were sat on the outdoor benches picnicking! We, of course, had our lunch in Betty’s, our usual sandwich selection augmented by a shared bowl of chips, such extravagance.
Our main reason for going was to get a replacement red Hamamelis . You may remember we lost one just year and tge garden centre there tends only to stock items when they are in flower.
I also wanted to see the rest of the embroideries in display in the library. I blipped the Autumn one back in November when just the Autumn one was on display. I had though it would be my blip but it was far to glorious outside to go with an indoor blip. There were lots of snowdrops and Hellebores in flower and amongst the gorgeous dog woods on the winter walks were several varieties of Daphne smelling amazing.
It really is worth going any time of year. There was an interesting Japanese art and craft exhibition on too in the Bath House.
We were good and didn’t go back into Betty’s for tea and cake after our chips but we did buy the Hamamelis despite the shock of the price. Let’s hope this one lasts, it has a 5 year guarantee.
The embroideries are on show into next month so I will hopefully go again with my friend but you can see some pictures of them in my Flickr album.
