Fake Views

Never mind that it’s all fake, these blooms round the door of a hairdresser’s in Bruntsfield were such a welcome splash of colour on one of those dull days that Scotland does so well -  not that it was a dreich day, just dull, and there was no wind which is always a plus for umbrellas in this airt.

I’ve bitten the bullet (metaphorically) and had a firm come to give me an estimate for draught proofing  5 windows in the so called west wing of the Dower House wherein doth blow all the west winds nature sends us . Another estimate will be obtained on Monday.

Meanwhile I am angry that new builds on the site have double glazing and some maybe even triple glazing, while the listed stone buildings shiver under the onslaught of leaking single glazed sash and case windows. I really don’t understand why these type of windows in a conservation zone can be replaced with like for like double glazing ones while we in a listed building can’t have the same. So much for energy conservation.

You will be able read between these lines and determine that it was a quiet, unremarkable Friday for this Lady but it is nearly time to throw caution to the winds and let my hair down at the TGIF gathering of neighbours. I must remember not to overdo it or I won’t sleep tonight.
