Wren's London: Kensington Palace...
....or depending how you view it the royal version of a block of flats the current home of the Will and Kate (as well as a few others). Set in Kensington Gardens the state rooms are open to the public.
This is the first of 2 palaces that will feature in this series. The most famous resident of the palace has her statue directly outside (as you can see), Queen Victoria was born in the palace in 1819 and spent most of her childhood there, she was also in the palace when she was woken in 1837 to be told her uncle King William IV has died and she would therefore inheritethe throne, she never returned to stay at Kensington palace ever again.
In 1981, apartments 8 and 9 were combined to create the London residence of the newly married Charles and Diana. (there was probably an apartment 8b for Camilia......)
Its most famous recent permanent resident was Princess Diana, it is also where she spent her last night before her funeral.
In 2008, it was announced that to continue living in their Apartment from 2010, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent would be required to begin paying rent of £120,000 a year, rather than the £70 a week they were paying for their five-bedroom, five-reception flat.
Another unknown fact is that about 30 years ago I nearly drowned in the Serpentine just outside the palace but that's not very interesting.
So apart from popping to Kensington Gardens to get this snap, I have been indoors hiding from the miserably cold weather, recovering from last nights drinking session and watching the worlds greatest weekly 6 hour tv show, soccer Saturday. QPR got a good draw at West Ham and our new £8 million mercenary scored on his debut.
As always a shout out to you all this weekend I hope you are all having great ones, thanks for the comments, stars and favs for yesterdays blip.
