With mountains like these

Málaga night out

The town was in shock and it took a while to understand why. Police were out in force, cheerfully directing traffic as the lights were all failing. I saw a few cars covered in shattered leaves and a driver arriving to look at his parked car totally bemused. I turned the corner in my hire car and then saw the piles of hailstones, feet high.

It seemed to have given the city an even heightened sense of fun and humour.

I’ve not visited before, so I’d booked myself a wine and tapas tour. What a result! Within an hour of landing, great service from Record car hire, check in to an immaculate apartment from Suites del Pintor and a quick trot down through town, I was in the company of Xavi from Spain Food Sherpas.

He was delightful and informed company, as were my colleagues, from England, Norway, Sweden and Denmark on their business trip and the lovliest Glaswegian detectives you could ever meet.

Some of us had to see the footy match. Another result! And then I trotted home again in the rain.

But I did pass a group of birthday revellers. They shouted me over, sang me several verses of what was no doubt a very bawdy song and I carried on.

What a fabulous city! And you can do it on your own no problem.
