Valdez peninsula
Peninsula Valdez is a UNESCO world heritage site and the place best known for Orcas to beach and seize elephant seal and sea lion pups. Happily for the sea lion pups no such trauma today although they were ripe for the picking. At least 3 were born in the hour or so I was there, marked by the seagulls squabbling over the placenta . The seals had birthed later last year so not in danger now, sleeping quite happily but sea lion beach was a cacophony of argy bargy! Also saw a burrowing owl ( in a tree) a large hairy armadillo which wasn’t that large, and lots of Magellan penguins. Phew!
