Back at Ithilien

Having discovered that Sam Summer’s hut, which I came across a few weeks ago, was in fact a DOC hikers hut, I planned my first day of the tramp to finish there. Upon arrival I soon realised that it belongs solely to the mice. As soon as they got a whiff of my granary rolls they seemed to come pouring out of the walls. So focused was I on the sandfly issue I had completely forgotten about mice so, needless to say, had no animal resistant food storage container with me. After watching their bold antics around my kit for an hour or so I decided this was not the place to stay the night. They made The Rescuers seem like shy, timid creatures and I really didn’t trust them around my all too chewable and pricey kit.
So, back down the mountain and here I am returned to Ithilien campsite. Still have to work out where to put my food but think everything else will be fine, normal mice here. Thinking on top of my neighbours car....
