My favourite place to spend time

in any season .... There is real satisfaction in turning ground, planting a crop, harvesting, then eating the produce. I rent two half plots that sit side by side, & currently have leeks, parsnips, swede, Mooli (Japanese radish), & rainbow chard for harvesting. Some of the ground is clean, some needs a bit of weeding, but the ground is too sticky at the mo. The blueberries & raspberry canes have been pruned accordingly, next to get my attention the gooseberry & currant bushes. You can make out the remainder of the hedge that needs to be cut behind the three sheds. That was going to be tomorrow but Stuart rang tonight & cancelled. Not a problem, it can wait. The Thai Winged bean plants have survived the frost which I'm amazed at. I don't see them fruiting but will leave them in the ground as an experiment. When I'm not working the allotment I can sit outside my shed with a cuppa, or something stronger, & look directly across to Dartmoor, and late afternoon early evening watch the sun setting away in the west. The birds provide the musical accompaniment. Yep! This is my favourite place alright. :- )
Today I've moved in with Millie, down on the English Riviera. It was a tad damp & foggy as I approached the coast, such a shame as the past few days have been glorious, never mind, it won't stop us exploring the surrounding countryside. Millie loves a walk even in the rain.

Watched The Great Pottery Throw Down ... Kit should have gone home last week, went tonight. :- ) Loved the raku penguins created by Rainna, & the work of the specialist nerikomi potter. Matt's nerikomi attempt was pretty impressive. I think he could be the one to watch ..
