Into the Arctic Circle

My blip today is of the MS Nordkapp,  the Hurtigruten vessel that I first sailed on in February 2002. A wonderful trip. No sightings of the Northern Lights, but a trip that started my love of Norway.

We passed her early this morning. Hurtigruten captains greet each other with lights and lots of noise. I was quite emotional.

We arrived in Bodo a bit late because of the difficult weather conditions but our trip into the stunning countryside and to the phenomenal Saltstraumen went ahead as planned. 

I’ve put an extra to give a flavour.

No sightings of the Northern Lights from our ship so far but one of the  sister ships was lucky much further north. 

It’s going to be a long night. We’re optimistic and we will need to be patient.
