Cornborough
The index entry for this somewhat worn Kodachrome slide reads "Bideford Holiday 17.8.67 - Windswept tree near Cornborough", so the location I have given it is somewhat approximate. Cornborough lies slightly inland from Westward Ho! in Devon, and this tree is clearly exposed to the winds rushing in from the Atlantic Ocean nearby. We used to holiday in the area each year as several members of the family lived there.
I remember stopping the car there to stop and take the picture. I think the lane, a classic Devon lane, was called Scratchyface Lane, as it was so narrow the hedgerow twigs would brush the side of the car, but this may have been an unofficial local name for it, or even just a family name.
