Whooper Swan family (and a Pochard!)

Lovely day today so I took a quick trip to Welney WWT Reserve. Most of the swans were still out on the fens as it was still early afternoon - they come back at dusk. However this family was happily swimming around in front of the main hide. I managed to get this nice arrangement of the three of them - didn't notice the Pochard at the time but couldn't have avoided it anyway. More ducks in the 'extra'
Most of the reserve is under water as the floodplain is doing its job - which means the A1101 road is closed again - the other extra shows the Road Closed  sign showing the depth of water as 23inches /58cms. There is also a barrier with ROAD CLOSED. Amazing then  that yesterday a family of 4 and their dog were (fortunately) heard screaming for help and had to be rescued from the roof of their car, having decided that the warnings meant it was OK to try to drive through 2ft of fast-flowing water. I despair of the human race sometimes !
