Saying goodbye
We went to our friend Dottie's funeral service today, a proud 95 year old veteran of World War II. She served as a Pharmacist's Mate in the Waves, stationed in California, tending the returning wounded. We loved her very much, and she will be sadly missed by many. I have known her for as long as I can remember, she was the mother of two of my childhood friends. T met her at church over 25 years ago and loved her immediately. The service was a perfect tribute to a warm and wonderful woman so proud of her service to our country in WW II.
The last time I saw her was in November when Dolly and I went to the church Thrift Shop where Dottie volunteered every week. She was an amazingly active 95 year old until her recent stroke. One of the Greatest Generation, now dwindling in numbers.
For the Record,
This day came in frigid, a shockingly cold day to be at a cemetery burial. We warmed up after at the funeral collation(reception with food made by the church ladies) sharing stories and catching up with old friends.
All hands warming up after a cold day. It's snowing now, a good night to be in a cozy house.
