Vegetable after my own .....

Mmm mmm our very first artichoke from the garden.  Such a great flower I wanted to see it bloom so was a little hard to cut it.  But it was planted to be eaten.  We steamed it with lemon, garlic and a bay leaf in the water.  A great starter to share, we picked off the petals, dipped the ends in aioli & made lots of appreciative sounds ... & the heart was ... well something else!

There's nothing quite like fresh food from the garden & I think I might have a new favourite :)
