Call Home!

Sorry, I don’t think the photo really conveys the wonderful absurdity of this phone booth, situated in front of a very modern planetarium, and yet isolated in its obsolescence. What is it doing in the middle of a college campus? why is the handset yellow? why is the opening facing the street? has anyone ever made a call from here? would anyone passing by even know how to use it? Oh, the things we will never know!


I went with a couple friends to an art workshop in using waterbrushes to paint in field journals, a class run by Bay Area naturalist John Muir Laws. He is an interesting guy and an excellent teacher, eager to share his knowledge and skills. We are all wanting to go back for the next session.
