Wot, no flooding?
I was in Blakeney this morning at the same time as two days ago, but no flooding today. This was the same location (different angle) and you can see how much higher the tide was to over-top the path. https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2664194262031141932
Another interesting talk today at my U3A Archeology group on Common Land. This is not owned by every local person as we tend to think, but were often owned by the Lord of the Manor (now squires) with people having rights to graze animals / cut peat / take wood. Norfolk currently has 8,300 acres of common land (0.64% of land), but in 1797 it had 160,000 acres (12%). We had an interesting debate on what is 'natural' land as common land was originally wooded. Cutting trees for wood for building and planting heather / gorse for harvesting as fuel led to them becoming heaths, which have largely returned to woods when this harvesting stopped.
