After I had downloaded a walking guide to Bury St Edmunds, we decided to spend some time exploring today. It was really interesting and there was so much to see that I hadn't been aware was there, the architecture is truly amazing. We're hoping to go back soon to go into the Cathedral and also St Mary's church, one of the largest parish churches in England where Mary Tudor, Queen of France and sister of Henry VIII is buried.
This picture is of the Cathedral from the Abbey Gardens, with some of the Abbey ruins in the foreground.
We had a delicious lunch in Harriets Tea Rooms, a really lovely 1930's style establishment where the waiting staff wore traditional black dress with white aprons.
It had been a beautiful sunny day until we were at the end of the walk when the heavens opened and we got quite wet walking back to the car park.
