It is what we call a multi-tool but when I was growing up would have been called a pen knife.  In this case its a Leatherman Wave, the knife that seems to have kick started the multi-tool "craze".  Prior to this the multi-tool would have been a Swiss Army knife.  I've had this particular Leatherman for over 20 years I think now, and it has been enormously useful on any number of occasions.  Given the problems with knife crime in the UK I don't feel that I can carry it around with me anymore which rather limits its usefulness.
