Carpenter Bee

I must admit to being a bit daunted when I saw this creature flying about this morning, I didn't know whether or not it would be aggressive when it saw me and if it had been you would't have seen me for dust!  In any event it was very passive and just kept flying around a bit then returning to the same place.  I've read since on Google that they won't bother people if people don't bother them but it's only the female that has a sting anyway and I think this is the male.  This variety of bee is certainly much more laid back than it's British counterparts as in the end he posed very nicely giving me the time to get the shot.
