A winter visitor

I had planned to go and take some pictures of the snow in the local woods but a small child who was sick last night meant I was confined to the house today as he was off school and watching TV!

I did manage to get some photos of this blackbird when he/she perched on our fence before flying down to the pond to take a drink. The small splodges in the picture aren't dust on the lens but snow flakes as it was still snowing. It continued to snow for most of the day today, but these were small little flakes that didn't do much to cover the ground and so we still don't have enough of the white stuff to make a decent snowman.
