Bling Bling from Russia
1881 it was when Ivan Kramskoy made this portrait of Empress Maria Fyodorovna; she was the consort of Tsar Alexander III from Russia.
At the moment the Hermitage Museum of Amsterdam has a wonderful exhibition about the jewels from the Russian Romanovs, Catharine the Great and others from 18th and 19th C. Not just jewelry, but also clothes and paintings are shown and stories told... it's like history comes to live in the museum.
without flash one can take pictures in this museum and this painting is used widely to promote the exhibition, so I gues I can use it for my blip too :-)
