First Of The Year

After the surprise of finding out late yesterday that Clare’s oldest brother John was in Hampshire and not California today involved a 3:00am alarm and 4:00am start to Southampton in order to make breakfast with John, Mark and Joshua before today’s funeral.

Funerals are always sad occasions, even more so when it is a family member. Aunty Barbara was a lovely lady who truly ‘sparkled’, full of fun and compassion for others.
Following the wake we headed off for our hotels to change, John stayed in, unused to driving in heavy urban traffic and torrential rain. Mark headed home, work tomorrow whilst Clare, Sam, Josh and I went out for a family meal.
A long day, a sad day but facing it as family helps.
