No oysters in the grass

We enjoyed a wonderful day out today in Poole, Dorset with cassfoto and her ever-patient husband.

Lunch overlooking the water followed by a spell at an area known as Baiter Park.

The playing fields were flooded and hundreds of birds took advantage of the wet conditions to feed there.

I have never seen so many oystercatchers in one area and I assume they were using their long, probing beaks to search for earthworms. This photo shows a very small gathering of what must have been at least 200 birds.

Other birds included Brent geese, Turnstones, starlings, gulls of various species, etc.

A magnificent sight and the lesson of the day, I was told, is to enjoy the spectacle and don’t worry too much about choosing the right photo from the 200 I took!
