Dog Leg Tunnel

I had wanted to call in and see Cockatoo Island for a long time now. Finally did although I couldn't stay long. I'll be back soon however when there's better light. Cockatoo Island is the largest island in Sydney Harbour and has a fascinating history. It has been a colonial penal settlement, a stone quarry, a world war two naval dockyard and ship construction facility, arts festival venue, a series of movie sets and a permanent museum.

At this point (above) I am midway through the "Dog Leg" tunnel. It passes under the sandstone hill which forms the basis of the location. HAS TO BE SEEN LARGE.

I'll be back some day in the near future with more detailed information but here are a few extras to be going on with. Extra one shows the tunnel entrance, extras two and three show something of one of the huge warehouse/repair shop facilities. There's lots more facets to the site of course but ... next time.
