Flying low over the waves . . .
. . . a single great frigate (iwa) bird. She made a long, low pass across the waves, at times dipping behind them. The white underneath shows it's a female, as they usually have mostly black plumage. Females are usually larger than males, as well.
Overcast and windy today, as it has been for days now. Some strong gusts and driving sand. When I arrived at the beach, there were 4 in the water (2 surfers right, 2 left) and 3 cameras on the beach - with some oglers outside their cars in the parking lot, pretty sparse. One guy came out with a broken fin strap and another one to each side went in. Two came out and two more people shooting iPhones on the beach. Ebb and flow, add and subtract. The real action again was to the right side, where both extras were taken.
Extras -
1. Turquoise wave and spray, blowhole ledge behind
2. The patch in front of the blowhole is deceptively smooth in this shot.
More rolling in . . .
Edit - took back #2 to re-use on July8 . . . check out the latest ocean!
