Windows 7
"Windows 7 dies today" is the message in an email newsletter I received today. That's melodramatic, because what's really happening is that Microsoft will no longer issue security patches and will not support the operating system. And because we won't be allowed to run Windows 7 at work, we've been working like mad since mid-November to upgrade all our systems to Windows 10. At home, I still have some Windows 7 machines, so this evening I've been installing the last set of patches from Microsoft. Then I'll keep the machines mostly switched off, in case I need to run old software, and I definitely won't connect them to the internet any more.
It's sad, though. Windows 7 has been a really good operating system.
