A BREEZY (AND VERY WET) BATH BLIPMEET

It’s been a few weeks since I saw my Blipfriend, Evolybab, so as the next couple of weeks are going to be quite busy, thought we might be able to squeeze in a Blipmeet - but of course, we hadn’t taken account of Storm Brendan!

Mr. HCB told me I should wear something warm and weatherproof, because although the sun was threatening to peep through first thing this morning, being an avid weather forecast listener, he said that it was due to be very windy and rainy after midday.  Being a dutiful and obedient wife (not always, as you are probably aware) I took his advice and he kindly took me down to the train station to catch the 9.30 train to Bath.

On arrival, I made my way to our solicitors’ office to see some friends, and to take a long-overdue Christmas present of a box of chocolate biscuits.  I thought some of them might be on post-Christmas diets, but the way one of them (and it wasn’t a female!) ripped open the inner wrapping foil, that was obviously not the case.  I spent a pleasant hour with them and then went off to meet Evolybab, calling into several shops on the way.  I was hoping to buy some new shoes in the Hotter shop, but didn’t like any of them, so saved my money.

Then it was off to the Apple store to “pick their brains” about my old iPad, which I very kindly gave to Mr. HCB when I bought a new one (whoops, sorry didn’t mention that before, did I?)  Zara, the young lady I spoke to was very helpful and it transpired that her grandparents lived in Swindon.  Of course, I told her about Blip and she was very interested - perhaps she might even start Blipping!

By then the rain was coming down very heavily, so I waited for Evolybab under a huge umbrella just outside the Apple store and thankfully didn’t have to wait too long.  It was good to see her again and as it was such awful weather, we went into the nearest coffee shop and spent a very enjoyable time together chatting about our families, Blip and lots of other things.

A couple at the next table, who were both deaf, and using sign language, saw me pass a copy of the Order of Service for Mum’s service last week to Carol and this prompted her to speak to us - then ensued a lovely conversation with them both.  Interestingly, they used to live at Abbey Meads in North Swindon and she told us that she signed for the Queen’s Speech - you never know who you are going to meet!

Evolybab and I both decided that it wasn’t the weather to wander around Bath, so we parted company but not before we had taken the obligatory selfies.  We stood in front of a lantern sculpture near to the coffee shop, commissioned by the Hollburne Museum alongside local primary schools, showing an A-Z of “What Bath Means to Me” and which I understand is projected at night-time onto the nearby buildings - you can see this behind us in the left hand selfie.  The top right one shows how windy it was and we were just being silly in the bottom one.  It’s good to be silly sometimes and even better when someone else is with you!

“Being silly is still allowed,
     not excluded by adulthood.
What's excluded by adulthood
     is thoughtlessness,
          so be thoughtful and silly”
