Ubud

Drove through a lot of rain to the beautiful Alila Ubud hotel just above what the guidebooks call the bohemian town of Ubud (ie hippies).   We stopped for lunch at a restaurant on a hill above a lake but couldn’t see either through the mist but then finally arrived at a spectacularly sited hotel up in the jungle with monkeys and birds all around. This is the view from the room but don’t be fooled the ‘village’ across the valley is another hotel although it does look pretty through the mist.  Huge rains over dinner so we settled in with the mango bellinis and had a great time.   This could all go a bit Under the Volcano if we’re not careful
