Day off!

A day off, thankfully. Not sleeping due to jet lag and preoccupied with the bushfires, checking social media..

Went to see a contact about some work then renewed my club membership. We finally received our pay quite late so the membership was top priority. Only for two months as they’re still facing an uncertain future.

Time to swim, and swim and swim. Forty five minutes of swimming and stretching until a new person emerged from the pool. Invigorated! Had a lie in the winter sun too. Very nice. And nice conversations with people concerned about the fires, I got overwhelmed, but nice. The magnitude of the situation is frightening, unlike nothing we’ve ever seen.

A private lesson, dinner at my favourite local Lebanese then met a friend who has lost his job. He’s been unfairly treated, after having gone above and beyond the call of duty. A bit worried, I hope he finds work soon. Unemployed Egyptians don’t fare well here; homesickness and boredom set in..

A late night, back to work tomorrow.
