The allotment
An exciting day as we headed down to see the allotment for the first time.We picked Sarah up and Mike dropped us at the gate where we met Ken,Janet and Morag. It was pouring with rain as they guided us round the plots until we reached the one that will be ours, plot no.10.We were not sure what to expect , it could have been completely overgrown with weeds etc but it’s been well looked after and only became available as the previous owner has moved away.Pleased to see that it’s been divided into strips with weed suppressed pathways in between. There’s Two beds of strawberries and a few other veg that we need to inspect more when we have more time. There’s a shed that we will be sharing with the other half plot owner, a water butt, running water !! And a compost heap which might need abit of work !
It also has an amazing view down to the Firth and next to open fields, should get plenty of sun for most of the day as well.
We’ll be bringing the Brownies down so that they can ‘ Grow their own’ and hopefully we’ll be able to do some land to fork later in the year.
All very exciting we have lots of ideas and looking forward to seeing what ideas the girls come up with.
If anyone has any ideas or advice please let us know ,it’s the first time any of us have had an allotment.
