Tonya Jacobs

A fascinating day!  Kanyl and me went down to the Beetham Nurseries "Orchid Weekend"  For this Burnham Orchid Nurseries come up from Devon bringing masses of of Orchids which you don't see usually in garden centres.  Not only that but they give talks, today's were "Anyone can grow Orchids" and "Unusual Orchids from round the world for your home".

I was of course tempted and bought another Orchid but I will leave that for another day.  The one featured in the blip is Bulbophyllum "Tonya Jacobs".  This is like most orchids an epiphyte requiring a night time temperature of no lower than 18°C  (65°F).  One interesting point we were reminded of was Orchid (the most popular pot plant in the world) have 35,000 species and another 120,000 hybrids.
