Wolf Moon floods

A day of wall to wall sunshine was a surprising and welcome treat, particularly as we'd returned from yesterday evening's wildlife group talk in heavy rain. After picking Ben up from work I had a swift walk round Ferry Meadows, which was full of dog-walkers and joggers but a bit light on birds. However, I did see my first flock of siskins for this winter, chattering noisily in the tops of the willows and alders.

I thought I would be posting a bird shot, but when Pete came back from his walk he told me that there was a beautiful full Wolf Moon rising, so I made a second dash out to the Rowing Lake, and managed to get a few shots while it was still luminously apricot in colour (see extra). The sunset was pretty nice too, and reflected off the floodwater which was the result of last night's rain. The world is saturated and the river is responding almost immediately to relatively small amounts of precipitation.
