Egret On a Tree

When I first caught sight of this bird he had a friend/mate with him.  They both walked about the top of the tree like it was a solid object.  
By the time I got my camera out the buddy/significant other had flown away.  Maybe only one of them liked the perch.  
Maybe they'er storks too.
