Wednesday market at Beverley but not today. A market place on this site from 12th Century, known original as Southern market, then renamed fish market, and 1446 named Wednesday Market. Trading ceased in 18th Century when Saturday market became dominant, but market days on both Wednesday and Saturday recommended in 1997. Cafes were open so not all quiet.
