Toplis Cottage

Toplis Cottage near Tomintoul. Named after Percy Toplis - The Monocled Mutineer, the abandoned croft lies hidden in full view of passing traffic on the A939, not far from the Lecht Ski-centre. After the 1920 shooting of a local policeman and the local farmer, Toplis headed south and was eventually shot dead by armed-police near Penrith.
