Middlewood Locks
A completely new pedestrian route, which just works. People are discovering it, really well landscaped.
On the right, new apartments at Middlewood Locks. Brick faced, with some good textures, and the right scale for here.
These overlook, on the left, a restored section of the Manchester Bolton Bury Canal.
Great views ahead of the changing city centre, and great access to it, especially when the bridge over the Irwell re-opens (with another bridge in the offing).
It’s a long way from this site’s industrial past, although the apartment building names (quarry, charcoal, bellows, forge) hint at what came before.
