Get a Wiggle On
The new cycle lanes in the gradually-taking-shape new Picardy Place multi-car lane gyratory look expectedly garbage. Three 90 degree turns in quick succession, and a low visibility kerb (not the temporary black and white one), whilst mingling with pedestrians. T'was ever thus.
And if anything the plans and implementation are even worse for pedestrians. I walk through here often when using public transport for work (because the transport 'hub' of the last tram stop isn't actually served by nearby, useful bus stops), and the cattle gets filtered through narrow crossings where the car is most definitely king - the crossings are the tram stop being the very worst examples, fortified by awkward light timings that hold scores on their feet to make way for single-occupancy SUVs.
But, y'know, war on the motorist and all that.
